Newest Area Road Closings from ODOT

State Route 2 Modernization & Lane Addition, Eastlake, Mentor, Willoughby

  • On Thursday, July 8, crews began Phase IV of the $175 million Lake 2 Corridor Modernization Plan. Phase IV resurfaces State Route 2 between the Grand River and U.S. 20.
  • Beginning July 8, crews closed one lane of State Route 2 eastbound between U.S. 20 and Richmond Street for milling and paving operations until early August. Traffic will be maintained with one lane in the eastbound direction and two lanes in the westbound direction during that time.
  • Closures in the westbound portion will occur following the eastbound lanes. Details will be forthcoming. Tentative completion date: October 15, 2010.
  • The SR 2 westbound exit ramp to Vine Street and the SR 91 entrance ramp to SR 2 eastbound are now open.
  • The SR 2 westbound exit ramp to SR 91 is closed until approximately mid-August. Motorists may detour via Vine Street.
  • The SR 2 eastbound exit ramp to Vine Street and the Vine Street entrance ramp to SR 2 eastbound are closed until approximately August 4.
  • The Vine Street east and westbound entrance ramps to SR 2 westbound remain closed through August. SR 2 motorists may detour via SR 91. Vine Street motorists may detour via U.S. 20 and SR 306.
  • On Vine Street at SR 2, one lane in each direction is closed through the 2010 construction season.
  • All ramps at the SR 2/Lost Nation Road interchange are open, however the ramps are expected to close again during portions of the 2011 construction season as work is completed along that portion of SR 2.
  • Through the fall of 2010, Lost Nation Rd. traffic will be maintained with one lane in each direction between Wood Rd. and Riverside Commons.
  • On SR 91 at SR 2, one lane in each direction is closed through the 2010 construction season.
  • Widening work on SR 306 just north of the SR 2 bridge will continue. Traffic will be maintained at 2 lanes in each direction.
  • Reeves Road remains closed at Lost Nation Rd. through the 2010 construction season. The detour is set utilizing Hurricane Drive.
  • Reconstruction of SR 2 between SR 91 and Stevens Boulevard will continue. Occasional lane closures may be utilized during nonpeak times.
  • The entire three-stage project rehabilitates SR 2 and adds a lane between SR 91 and Newell Creek/SR 306. Tentative completion date: October 2011.

New Ohio School Immunization Requirements

The Ohio Department of Health has updated immunization requirements to protect school-age children from preventable diseases. Changes in effect for the 2010-2011 school year include:

  • The addition of a tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap) or tetanus and diphtheria (Td) booster requirement for seventh grade;
  • The addition of a second dose of varicella (smallpox) vaccine for kindergarten entry;
  • A requirement that the final dose of polio vaccine be administered on or after the fourth birthday for kindergarten entry.
